AFC KEMPSTON COLTS PROGRESS TO NATIONAL FINAL

AFC Kempston Colts U13 boys football team won the Tesco Cup Central England Regional Final at the University of Birmingham on Sunday. The boys now advance to the English Final of the Tesco Cup at the Walkers Stadium, Leicester on 17 May.

AFC Kempston Colts played well throughout the day. With an outstanding defensive back line, the team did not concede a single goal. The U13 boys team faced tough competition in the final against Worcester Colts, but took an early lead with a goal from Luke Wilson in the first minute of the match. Kurtis Alleyne took the final score to 2-0 with a goal in the last minute of the game.

Former England footballer Mark Walters and England women's player Marianne Spacey attended the tournament, and selected the following players to win individual awards:

Best Goalkeeper: George Darlow (AFC Kempston Colts)
Best Defender: David Hartley (Brampton Spartans)
Best Midfielder: Ged Oldnall (Bustleholme Baggies)
Best Forward: Bobbie Dale (Worcester Colts)
Player of the Tournament: (Trimley Red Devils)

Tesco Cup Ambassador Mark Walters commented: ‘The Tesco Cup is a fantastic competition, giving youngsters the opportunity to play on a National and International Stage. I have seen a great standard of football at the Central England Regional Final and I look forward to seeing how the teams get on at the National Final in May.'
